The 5-Day Marangu Route Kilimanjaro Trek is one of the most popular ways to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain at 5,895 meters (19,341 feet). Known as the “Coca-Cola Route,” Marangu is famous for its relatively gentle slopes and comfortable mountain hut accommodation, making it a popular choice for trekkers seeking a classic Kilimanjaro experience.
Your adventure begins in the lush rainforest of Kilimanjaro National Park and gradually ascends through the moorland and alpine desert zones toward the spectacular summit. Along the way, you’ll experience breathtaking scenery, unique high-altitude vegetation, and panoramic views of Tanzania.
The trek reaches its climax with an overnight summit attempt from Kibo Hut. After reaching Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa, you’ll descend through the beautiful Kilimanjaro landscapes before completing your adventure.

After breakfast, you’ll drive from your hotel to Marangu Gate, where you will complete registration and meet your professional mountain crew. The trek begins through the lush tropical rainforest, where you may encounter monkeys and enjoy the sounds of tropical birds.
The trail gradually climbs through the forest to Mandara Hut, your first overnight stop. After settling in, you may take a short walk to the nearby Maundi Crater for beautiful views of the surrounding landscape.

Today’s trek takes you through the alpine desert landscape toward Kibo Hut, the final overnight stop before your summit attempt.
The trail crosses the Saddle, a broad and barren area between the peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi. As you approach Kibo Hut, the landscape becomes increasingly rocky and sparse.
After an early dinner, you’ll rest and prepare for your midnight summit climb.
